A longtime resident of Cranford, NJ, Sue’s journey into mosaics began unexpectedly in 2014 when she was looking for an art activity to do with a group of friends. An innocent purchase of tiles from the local craft store quickly became a lifelong obsession with this ancient art form. In 2017, the obsession turned serious, and Sue began diving into drawing and other art forms, educating herself through workshops with renowned mosaic artists like Yulia Hanansen, Bonnie Fitzgerald and Marian Shapiro. What started as a hobby on her dining table has since grown into a dedicated practice in her home studio in Winston-Salem. Sue’s passion lies in creating pieces that emphasize line, color and texture using time-honored materials like Italian smalti, Mexican smalti and vitreous glass tile. Sue is inspired by natural forms, geometry, graphic design and the printed word.
